Lindsay Lohan won't be playing 1970s porn star Linda Lovelace in "Inferno"

Writer-director Matthew Wilder says his production team is in negotiations with another actress and will make an announcement soon.

Some media reports say the 24-year-old starlet quit to focus on her court-ordered rehab for drug addiction; others say Wilder wanted her replaced.

The “Mean Girls” star is expected to be in rehab in southern California until at least Jan. 3.

The actress has become more of a tabloid mainstay than box office draw since a pair of high-profile arrests in 2007 led to a drug and drunken driving case. A judge last month ordered Lohan to rehab. It was her fifth time in court since May. The ruling allowed her to avoid a fourth trip to jail.

Lindsay Lohan is trying to shorten the terms of her probation

The troubled star’s legal team want the length of the court-ordered terms – which are presently scheduled to run until August 2011 – lessened, as they fear she will “get in trouble” before the period ends.

Lindsay is presently in the Betty Ford rehab centre in Los Angeles, following two spells in prison this summer; serving 13 days of a 90-day jail term in July before briefly being returned in September after failing drug tests, although she was released hours later on $300,000 bail.

A source explained to RadarOnline.com: “The longer Lindsay stays on probation, the increased chances that she will get in trouble because of problems staying compliant with the terms of her probation.

“The only person that can modify terms of Lindsay’s probation, or terminate it early, is Judge Elden Fox.”

‘Machete’ actress Lindsay could again face a return to prison, as she is due in court on October 22 for a probation hearing, after her failed drug tests, which could see her incarcerated again for violating the terms of her probation for a 2007 driving under the influence conviction.

Friends of the star have said she isn’t worried by this prospect, however, and is prepared to return to jail.

One pal said: “The fact is jail doesn’t scare Lindsay. Before she did her time earlier this summer, she was petrified. Having spent time behind bars, it doesn’t have that effect on her. Jail isn’t a deterrent for her, period.”

The Betty Ford Center Has Cut Off Lindsay Lohans Email And Twitter

While in rehab at the Betty Ford Center, Lindsay Lohan is also getting therapy for her addiction to e-mail and Twitter.

Sources tell us she's "only allowed to use her phone for two hours a day, and only to keep in touch with family and close friends."

The source added, "Before, she would repeatedly and compulsively e-mail her friends if she was ever in a situation where she felt lonely, and she would vent on Twitter."

Distancing her from her phone, a common policy at Betty Ford, "allows her to concentrate on herself," the source added. Meanwhile, Lindsay's mom, Dina, is getting a helping hand from Kim Kardashian's mother, Kris Jenner.

A source said, "Kris has been offering support and had Dina stay with her in LA when Lindsay appeared in court. Kim has also struck up a friendship with Lindsay, and because Kim doesn't party, doesn't touch drugs and doesn't really drink, they hope she'll be a good influence."

BEIJING, July 19 -- Lindsay Lohan's father Michael Lohan will have to wait a little longer to find out whether 13 year old Ashley Kaufmann is his biological daughter or not as his paternity test has been delayed.

Lohan is doubtful that Ashley is his daughter, and is anxious to take the test.

However, the company that was going to carry it out, has now told Michael that it will not be able to proceed with test without a court order.

"I got a letter saying I need something from the court before they'll process anything. And I didn't get that before. So, now I have to go back to my attorney," E! Online quoted Michael Lohan, as saying.
