Cheer up, Paris! You have some visitors
Resigned to do the time, Paris Hilton played jailhouse hostess yesterday, accepting her first guests since her stunning reversal of fortune landed her back in lockup.
The hotel heiress’ sister, Nicky, and her ex-boyfriend Stavros Niachros spent less than an hour with the mentally fragile inmate, trying to boost her spirits.
“She’s being strong,” Nicky Hilton told reporters as she emerged from the Twin Towers Correctional Facility’s medical center just after 1 p.m.
The pampered princess is apparently adjusting to her new isolated digs in the jail’s medical ward, eating cereal and bread, and crying less, sources said.
Nicky Hilton and Niachros were allowed to enter the jail without waiting on line, prompting other visitors to gripe, “Hey, that’s not fair!”
“No one else can just walk right up,” said Misty Lloyd, 32, who waited nearly 1-1/2 hours to see her cousin.
Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore denied Nicky Hilton and Niachros got special treatment.
Paris’ parents, Kathy and Rick Hilton, are expected to visit her tomorrow, friends said.
“[Kathy] is holding up very well under the circumstances,” a source said. “As a whole, the family is very strong and very united where Paris is concerned.”
A day after saying she will not appeal a judge’s decision Friday to send her back to jail to serve the remainder of her 45-day sentence, the “Simple Life” reality TV star seemed to be adjusting to incarceration. Being back on her unspecified medication is helping her cope, friends said.
She considers her new confines a step up from the Century Regional Detention Center in nearby Lynwood, where she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, a friend said. Paris called Lynwood “hell,” the pal said.
While at Lynwood, the 26-year-old willowy blond refused to eat or drink for three days, fearing jailhouse staffers would snap a cell phone picture of her on the toilet, the Daily News reported yesterday.
Paris’ 12-by-8-foot cell at Lynwood featured a stainless steel lavatory and a large window that guards could look through 24 hours a day.
Then on Thursday, given her bizarre hunger strike and constant boohooing, L.A. County Sheriff Lee Baca concluded her “psychological problems” were worsening and sent her home to finish her sentence, reduced to 23 days for good behavior, with an electronic monitoring device fitted to her ankle.
But Baca’s move backfired, sparking nationwide outrage over a perceived double standard and angering the sentencing judge for superseding his ruling.
Judge Michael Sauer had Paris sent back to the can on Friday. This time, the judge sparked cries of celebrity injustice for ordering her to serve the full 45 days of her original sentence for violating her probation for drunken driving.
While in the slammer, Paris continues to receive offers for work, including jobs she has likely never considered.
“We want Paris Hilton to be the poster girl for people who have mental issues who are incarcerated,” said Eddie Jones, president of the Los Angeles Civil Rights Association.

Paris finds god
Paris Hilton placed a collect call to Barbara Walters from jail yesterday to discuss her situation. .
“I used to act dumb That act is no longer cute. Now, I would like to make a difference. God has given me this new chance.”
The call was placed because Paris’ mom, Kathy, was on the phone with Walters when Paris rang in on another line. Paris decided she wanted to speak to The View host herself.
“I was not eating or sleeping. I was severely depressed and felt as if I was in a cage. It was a horrible experience.”

Tammy Faye won't let cancer get her down
On May 8, Tammy Faye Messner (formerly Bakker), announced that doctors had stopped treating her cancer, that her fate was in the hands of a higher power. Last night, I heard Tammy Faye's voice on television as she spoke to Entertainment Tonight reporters about the state of her health right now.
Tammy Faye's colon cancer, diagnosed in 1996, has spread to her lungs and is causing her severe pain. Her back hurts, she said, and her stomach hurts and she is having difficulty breathing. Still her message is loud and clear: she is not giving up.
When doctors told her there was nothing more they could do, Tammy Faye, 65, said she felt sorry for herself for about one minute. Then she reminded herself there is something out there bigger than doctors -- the Lord Jesus Christ. And so despite the fact that she has been in bed for most of the past year, has lost tremendous amounts of weight, and knows her days are limited, Tammy Faye is staying strong. She is truly living for the day.

Dooce diagnosed with skin cancer, and urges us to cover up -- again
It's pretty difficult to be part of the blogging world and not keep up Dooce, one of the Intenet's biggest blogebrities. So maybe you know this already but she's just been diagnosed with skin cancer -- again. Her struggle with cancer, like the rest of her life over the past few years, was documented on her ever-popular blog and I imagine will continue to be and she tackles the issue again.
A couple of days ago, she wrote this post which, in the candid style that characterizes her writing, urges people to cover up, just as she did during he first battle with cancer. Whether you know her or not, it's a wake-up call for people like myself who are ignorantly proud of our tanned post-vacation bodies. Every bit of colour you get from the sun is evidence of sun damage to your skin, and you need to take care of it. Skin cancer should not be something that healthy women in their 30s get. It's serious business.
Your thoughts?

Japanese artist Megumi Okina retired at 27
Japanese artist Megumi Okina has decided to retire from her entertainment career at the age of 27.
Megumi has been working in the entertainment world since she was 13; and according to some news report, she is tired with her entertainment career and wanted to live a simple life.
Megumi is not among the top stars all these years, but she has always been popular. International audience would probably know her as the leading actress in horror movie “Ju-on.”
